The security guard caught on video gunning down a US Navy veteran at a Denver right-wing rally will be hit with a second-degree murder charge in the viral incident, prosecutors said Thursday.

Matthew Dolloff, 30, has been held without bail on suspicion of first-degree murder since shooting Lee Keltner following the demonstration at Denver’s Civic Center Park on Saturday.

The city medical examiner ruled Keltner’s death a homicide two days later.

Denver District Attorney Beth McCann said on Twitter Thursday Dolloff will now be charged in Denver District Court on Monday with second-degree murder and could face up to 48 years in prison if convicted.

Dolloff had been hired through the Pinkerton detective agency to provide security for a 9News-TV crew covering the rally.

Keltner, 49, got into a confrontation with a group of Black Lives Matter demonstrators around 3:30 p.m. as he left the rally with his 25-year-old son.

The footage shows him tussling with several men before he and Dolloff get into a heated argument.

Keltner is seen slapping Dolloff in the face, prompting the guard-for-hire to pull a handgun from his waistband and fire a single shot at Keltner, who showered Dolloff with a burst of pepper spray just as he was shot, images show.

Dolloff surrendered at the scene.

Court records show that Dolloff made an initial court appearance on Sunday, and another on Tuesday but has yet to be arraigned.
