NY’s COVID positivity rate tops 1 percent for third straight day

The coronavirus positivity rate in New York has topped 1 percent for the third straight day, the latest state numbers show.

The statewide rate on Friday, when measured on a seven-day average, was 1.19 percent, Gov. Cuomo said Saturday. In New York City, it stood at 1.24 percent.

Of the 82,967 test results reported to the state Friday, 1,156 — or 1.39 percent — came back positive.

The number of those hospitalized with the virus in New York remained relatively stable at 354. There were four COVID-19 deaths Friday, including two Queens residents and a Brooklyn resident.

A total of 21,755,333 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in New York, including 34,659 in the last 24 hours, Cuomo said Saturday afternoon.

Cuomo said 70.9 percent of all adults in New York have been jabbed once and 65.6 percent have completed the vaccine series.
