‘Happier Than Ever’: Billie Eilish Writes a Love Letter to Los Angeles in Disney+ Trailer


Billie Eilish is a child of Los Angeles. The 19-year-old singer was born and raised there, and her new Disney+ concert film Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles, filmed at the city’s famed Hollywood Bowl amphitheater, wants to show fans all the reasons why she loves her hometown.

“I definitely romanticize Los Angeles,” Eilish says in the film’s trailer, released today. The film features Eilish performing all of the songs from her upcoming sophomore album, Happier Than Ever, in order. In a separate statement she explains, “To be able to present my album in this way and dedicate it to the city that I love and grew up in is so exciting to me. I hope you love it.”

The film, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Patrick Osborne, also features the Los Angeles Philharmonic and music director Gustavo Dudamel accompanying Eilish as she sings her 16-song album which features the hit singles “I Think Therefore I Am” and “My Future.” The film will include animated moments, including a cartoon version of Eilish herself, and uses Los Angeles as a backdrop for much of it.

“It was the most surreal shoot everrrrrrrr and i cannot WAIT for you to experience this film,” Eilish wrote on Instagram today.

Also appearing in the film are Eilish’s brother and frequent collaborator Finneas, the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus, and Brazilian guitarist Romero Lubambo. Happier than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles will be available on Disney+ on September 3.
