Guy Pearce is back in action as Jack Irish! Acorn TV‘s Jack Irish: Hell Bent returns for one final season next week, with four action-packed episodes in store to round out the ruthless series. And Decider has an exclusive look at new crime, investigations, and more in Season 3 of Jack Irish.
The first episode of Season 3 is set to pick up after the events of the show’s sophomore season. Barry (Shane Jacobson) calls in a favor with Jack, which leads him to uncover the truth about his murdered wife. In the clip, Jack phones Barry with an update on his case, with impending, grave danger just moments away. When Barry accepts his call, he pleads for new information.
“Yeah mate, I reckon I’ve cracked this one wide open,” Jack says. “I’ve watched your man knock off about 13 cans, presumably on his way to the full slab. And then he took what I feel confident would be probably the longest piss I reckon I’ve ever seen — and that includes horses — off the deck of his boat.”
After receiving the news, Barry prods for more information, asking Jack why even bothered to call with the info.
“Well, as riveting as this has been, mate, I’m calling it a day,” Jack responds. “Unless you have any other top-level assignments for me.”
Firing back, Barry tells Jack that “surveillance is a waiting game,” pressing him to stick it out. “So is the treatment for rectal cancer,” Jack jokes back, “and right now I’m finding it hard to separate them.”
But before the banter can continue, an angry guy bashes Jack’s car window in, yelling at him and ready to fight. Jack puts the pedal to the metal, accelerating away from the intruder while he kicks the sides of his car. While still on the phone with Barry, Jack gripes about doing his pal’s dirty work.
“Next time, drag your lazy ass out of your lazy boy and do your own dirty work,” he demands, tossing his phone into the passenger seat in a fit of rage.
