Amy Schumer’s support system came out in full force as the comedian tried to keep a positive attitude about her father, Gordon Schumer, being in the hospital.
“I have terrible news,” she announced on Instagram on Monday alongside a photo from the hospital, before joking, “My father was in an unfortunate magician sawing accident. He has a good spirit through it all and we’re still hoping the magician will turn back up.”
Fellow comedian Nick Kroll responded to the “sawing accident” joke by saying, “I have the bottom half. What’s it worth to you,” while author and comedian Ali Wentworth joked, “That’s why you always choose the disappearing box!”
Amy, 39, did not reveal why her father was in the hospital, but he has been battling multiple sclerosis since the star was 12 years old. It’s unclear if this visit is related to his MS.
A rep for the comedian did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
In addition to Kroll and Wentworth’s messages, a number of other celebs expressed sweet well wishes for the “I Feel Pretty” star and her dad.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell commented, “Sending positive vibes to your dad & you ❤️.”
“Selling Sunset” star Chrishelle Stause joked, “Hope he is reunited with his better half. Half kidding. Hope he is ok.”
And others, including Olympian Lindsey Vonn, commented with prayer hands emojis.
“we love you Dad!” added Ashley Graham.
Just days ago, Amy re-shared a touching video of her father meeting Goldie Hawn for the first time and breaking down in tears as they hugged.
