A 12-year-old upstate New York girl woke up to find a strange naked man inside her bedroom last week — and fearlessly confronted the intruder, scaring him off, police said.
The brave kid yelled at the creep to leave when she spotted him “totally naked and physically aroused” in her room at around 6 a.m. on Christmas Eve, according to Ellenville Police.
The intruder had slipped in through a front window of the Village of Ellenville apartment before making his way to a back room where the child and another 12-year-old girl were sleeping, cops said.
The plucky pre-teen’s screams woke the other girl up and prompted the man to flee.
The confrontation also awoke the victim’s mother, who grabbed a knife and chased after the suspect as he ran.
He didn’t make it very far.
Cops caught up to Sergio Ulysee, 37, who had allegedly taken off in a car. He was arrested after a “brief struggle.”
Ellenville Police Chief Phillip S. Mattracion commended the “brave young lady” for standing up to the creep.
She acted “with extreme bravery, and without hesitation, or fear, and at great risk to her own safety” as she faced up to the intruder, Mattracion said.
“Thankfully, we might never know what might have happened if not for her heroic actions.”
Ulysee, who lives in the same apartment complex as the girl and her family, was charged with second-degree burglary, endangering the welfare of a child, and sexually motivated felony, police said.
He was being held in Ulster County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail and was set to appear in court on Tuesday.
