Behavior Like Chuck Schumer’s Threats Expose Flaw In Democrats Promise To ‘Return To Normalcy’

Last week at an abortion rally outside the United States Supreme Court, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer threatened Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch.

“I want to tell you Neil Gorusch, and you Brett Kavanaugh, you have unleashed a whirlwind, and you will pay the price,” Schumer said. “You won’t know what hit you, if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

After condemnation from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Chief Justice John Roberts, as well as plans to censure Schumer from Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., Schumer gave a half-hearted apology for his rhetoric.

“I should not have used the word I used yesterday,” Schumer said on the Senate floor. “I’m from Brooklyn, we speak in strong language, I shouldn’t have use the words I did, but in no way was I making a threat. I would never do such a thing.”

He continued by saying his threats were aimed at the political consequences Trump, Republicans, and the Supreme Court would face if the court voted against pro-abortion legislation.

“My point was that there would be political consequences, political consequences, for President Trump and Senate Republicans if the Supreme Court, with the newly confirmed justices, stripped away a women’s right to choose. Of course I didn’t intend to suggest anything other than political and public opinion consequences for the Supreme Court, and it is a gross distortion to imply otherwise,” Schumer said.

Just weeks before this debacle, Schumer condemned President Trump for “attacking” a federal judge, and called on Chief Justice John Roberts to speak up against Trump on Feb. 13.

“With President Trump publicly attacking a judge: Now would be the time for Chief Justice Roberts to speak up. Now would be the time for the Chief Justice to directly and specifically defend the independence of the federal judiciary. I hope he will see fit to, and do it today,” Schumer tweeted.

To no surprise, hypocrisy is alive and well within the Democratic caucus. This flips the 2020 Democratic strategy on its head.

The Democrat’s 2020 Strategy

The strategy for Democrats in 2020 revolves around a return to normalcy and unity. As the frontrunner, former Vice President Joe Biden is marketing his campaign as a return to the Obama era.

Democrats routinely criticize Trump for sounding off on his Twitter account and using politically incorrect rhetoric. A return to normalcy pitch is good for picking up the suburban women demographic who are turning away from the GOP.

In their 2020 election bid, Democrats are working tirelessly to prove Trump is an unprecedented political animal. But, this messaging will only work if the Democrats act in opposition to Trump’s erratic tendencies.

The Hypocrisy Will Kill Democrat’s Strategy

The legitimacy of the 2020 Democratic strategy and “return to normalcy” campaign fell flat on its face when Schumer criticized Trump for “attacking” a federal judge, then proceeded to threaten two Supreme Court justices.

This hypocrisy isn’t true of just Schumer. Last week Biden cussed out a Detroit construction worker who questioned his stance on the Second Amendment. Biden said the worker was “full of sh-t” and lied about his political record and plans for gun confiscation.

The hypocrisy of the left showcases that Trump is a not a different type of political animal, simply a different, and often louder, breed. This realization uproots the entirety of their 2020 election efforts and strategy to pin Trump as an unprecedented threat. If Trump is the only unruly political animal, then why are Schumer and Biden threatening Supreme Court justices and picking fights with voters.

Schumer and Biden’s actions expose the deepest flaws in the Democrat’s 2020 election strategy — a complete inability to show a difference between their actions and Trump’s.
